I will say, that Rooney had a meet and greet after the show and I had a chance to talk with lead singer, Robert Schwartzman.

I don’t know if you were aware but it’s foggy and ugly and bleh here in Atlanta and, if I wouldn’t have to shoot myself in the foot for saying it, I would say I have a case of the Mondays. To combat the horrible affliction that is a weekend no longer with us, I continue with the silly mix…

Harry Belafonte – Day O (Banana Boat Song) – Face grabbing shrimp, gold lamé covered behinds, and the bongo played on an ice bucket. There’s nothing better for me than Catherine O’Hara in Beetlejuice “singing” this song.

Harry Belafonte – Jump in the Line – And since I can’t choose just one song from this movie, nor only one song by Harry Belafonte obviously, I bring the ending of Beetlejuice! When the football players are dancing on the stairs, it kills me!

Jimmy Soul – If You Wanna Be Happy – Another movie moment, another moment with Winona Ryder… which is odd because I don’t much like her, but the end of Mermaids is still priceless. The song, for my money, is also a talent contest I did with my friends where the pretty woman was my friend Lish and the ugly woman was my brother in a dress… with hairy legs and all. He’s a good sport, that kid.

Lily Allen – F*ck You – The song sounds so upbeat and happy and then you listen to the lyrics, which were apparently written to former President George W. Bush… faaaaabulous. I don’t know if you could possibly guess it but I’m a wee bit of a democrat. Being from my part of northern Ohio, you can’t escape the union, the democrats, or Tony Packo’s hot dogs. That said, the song is one of those times where my love of Lily Allen and her absolutely viral tracks is compounded with my dislike of a man and his policies.

Lustra – Scotty Doesn’t Know – If you haven’t seen Eurotrip you may not understand how viral this song can be. It plays throughout the entire movie in several different locations, arrangements, and languages. Our poor Scotty has just been dumped on the day of his high school graduation and that night finds out a bit more about the girlfriend who’s been cheating on him. Lordy it’s mean… but hilarious.

Milli Vanilli – Girl You Know It’s True - Schadefreude at its very best. I still think of that video that played after it came out that Milli Vanilli wasn’t all the musical genius we thought it to be…. “Girl you know it’s, girl you know it’s, girl you know it’s…” Plus, this song and Blame it on The Rain both played on the television show Sister Kate… with Jason Priestly… and I taped Blame it on the Rain off of television and played the tape over and over until I stretched the tape out. Yes. I’m sad.

Partners in Kryme – T.U.R.T.L.E. Power – There is nothing better than the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. NOTHING!!! Do not argue. You know that you still say, secretly or proudly, “Wise man say forgiveness is divine but never pay full price for late pizza.”

Reel Big Fish – Hungry Like A Wolf - It doesn’t matter what kind of funk I’ve dug myself into this song will bring me out with a laugh and a smile. The intro to this song is seriously the best song intro on the face of God’s green. A swing cover of Duran Duran as only Reel Big Fish could manage. Energy coming out the wazzoo from beginning until the bit at the end that says “Was that too much? …. I never know.”

Stephen Lynch – Beelz – A comedic look at Satan. My favorite bit… “I’ve got little devil horns, and a little Goatee, Little devil eyes to help a little devil see Little cloven hoofs that make it kinda hard to ski.” Though for the Georgian in me I’m sad that he says that the devil would “… never be caught dead in Georgia.” *makes with the confused face* That probably should make me happy. Anyhoo…

The Coasters – Along Came Jones – A childhood spent listening to oldies with my parents yielded this little gem. My mom and I were driving around Southern Michigan and I was digging through her cassette tapes trying to find something to listen to that wasn’t folk music and I happened onto a something my dad had taped for her with the Coasters on one side. She finally had to give me the tape because I “borrowed” it for several *ahem* years. “… and then, and then, and then along came Jones…”

The Ditty Bops – Wake Up – A song full of clichés and proverbs shouldn’t be this awesome but it is. With the style we’ve come to love from Amanda Barrett and Abby DeWald, the simple arrangements and almost ragtime quality of this song take something that could be boring and turn it into something sweet, silly, and new. For an excellent fan video for the television show Wonderfalls, check out This Amazing Vid by Charmax! It blends the odd silliness of this song to the odd randomness of the show with a perfect symbiosis.

Tom Lehrer – Smut! – I found Tom Lehrer in the middle of the night several years ago and I had to bite my hand to keep from laughing so loud that I would wake up my cousin who was sleeping in the next room. “All books can be indecent books, though recent books are bolder. For filth (I’m glad to say) is in the mind of the beholder. When correctly viewed, everything is lewd. (I could tell you things about Peter Pan, And the Wizard of Oz, there’s a dirty old man!)”

Tom Lehrer – The Vatican Rag – As a girl raised in the Catholic church, there’s nothing funnier than this song. Tom Lehrer manages to take something like genuflecting and make it hilarious. It’s so wrong it’s tremendous.

Tom Lehrer – The Masochism Tango – “I ache for the touch of your lips dear, but much more or the touch of your whips dear. You can raise welts like nobody else as we dance to the Masochism Tango…”
