Today’s Mascot
Yesterday I hit you with the sadness… and when I recover from bone crushing things like breaking my my baby, my child… my iPod… I have to recover with VIGOR. So here is the first of several mixes that I’ll end up sharing with you guys.
Big Audio Dynamite II – The Globe – My sister had a zillion mix tapes when I was a kid and this song was on several of them. The “bless you” on there always made me laugh… so we’re starting small obviously.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy – You And Me and The Bottle Makes Three – Oh, come on! Swingers! Plus, hilarious.
Bill Haley & The Comets – Shake, Rattle & Roll – Clue. The ending of Clue, one of the funniest movies of all time. Plus, the song makes me want to swing dance… which if you’ve seen me swing dance is hilarious in its own right.
Bowling for Soup – Girl All The Bad Guys Want – Bowling for Soup is a hilarious band! “Her cd changer’s full of singers that are mad at their dad…” I know it’s pop/punk written about a chick who is obviously transplanted from the ’80s because she wants a guy who drives a Trans Am but the guys make you feel for them and then cheer!!
Brak – The Ohio Song – I had to put this in here for anyone who hasn’t heard the genius that is this song. My friend Sunny put this on a road trip mix for me and I laughed so hard I cried and had to pull the car over. “Tell my uncles tell my aunts I’ve got my teeth in nice and straight, chicken nuggets in my pants I’m on my way to the Buckeye State!” Seriously.
Dan Aykroyd & Tom Hanks – City of Crime – From the movie Dragnet, a TERRIBLE rap about the plot of the movie and it never fails to make me laugh. As if you would ever doubt the brilliance of Aykroyd and Hanks… You wouldn’t, would you?
Digital Underground – Humpty Dance – From my 7th grade cd buying spree… I know all of the words to this song and this very tall, very white, very much a girl will sing this at karaoke.
Eric Hutchinson – Oh – I give you lyrics… “I got arrested in the dark of the night. The cop got restless as he read me my rights. He told me ‘I’m always envious of those that I jail. If I got locked up nobody’d come to help me post bail’ And I said ‘Oh!’” – See what I mean?
Feist – 1 2 3 4 – The Video is why this song makes me laugh. I liked the song before I saw it but there’s something so silly and wonderful about this video. The song got much more play after Apple used it in their iPod nanon commercial but it’s happy-making to the extreme.
Get Set Go – I Hate Everyone – Sometimes just being able to bitch about the annoying people in our lives is hilarious… and it’s even funnier if the annoying thing is not happening to you. Done.
